For more than two decades, I have dedicated my career to helping people learn, grow, and lead.

My story

I am a proud graduate of Spelman College, Teachers College, Columbia University, and the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where I earned my Doctor of Education Leadership degree.

My professional journey began as a classroom teacher and evolved into roles as an instructional coach, assistant principal, principal, chief schools officer, and executive leader. Along the way, I learned that leadership is rarely about having all the answers. It is about creating the conditions for people, teams, and organizations to thrive.

After years of leading within systems, I felt called to build something of my own. In 2017, I founded A.Leigh Solutions to support leaders and organizations through coaching, facilitation, retreats, and leadership development. Since then, that work has expanded into a broader ecosystem focused on leadership, governance, coaching, and organizational sustainability.

Throughout every chapter of my career, one truth has remained constant: people deserve leaders who are growing, learning, and evolving too.

What I Believe

The ideas that guide my work.

Conflict is not drama.

Conflict is a natural part of leadership and human relationships. When approached with courage and skill, it can strengthen trust, deepen understanding, and accelerate growth.

Trust is strategy.

Trust is not a soft skill. It is the foundation upon which every high-performing team, organization, and partnership is built.

Leadership is stewardship.

Leadership is not about power or position. It is about caring for people, purpose, and possibility.

Sustainable excellence matters.

Success should not come at the expense of well-being. The best leaders build systems that allow people to thrive over the long term.

Culture shapes outcomes.

Strategy matters. Talent matters. Resources matter. But culture determines whether any of those things reach their full potential.

We never stop learning.

The strongest leaders remain curious, reflective, and committed to growth throughout their lives.

Leadership & Service

Service beyond the work.

Leadership is both a profession and a responsibility. Beyond my work, I am honored to serve organizations and communities committed to developing leaders, strengthening our communities, and creating lasting impact.

Beyond the Work

A life that reflects the work.

I live with my husband, Ismail, and believe deeply in building a life that reflects the same values I teach. When I'm not coaching, facilitating, or speaking, you'll likely find me traveling, reading, exploring a new city, spending time with family and friends, walking, reflecting, or planning the next adventure.

Joy is not separate from leadership. It is part of it.
